When I was doing my History A-level in the early 1990s we were still using John Elliott’s Imperial Spain 1469-1716, quite remarkably given that it was originally published in 1963.
Assuming this reflected more on Elliott’s lasting domination of the field than the paucity of our school textbook budget I was delighted to have the opportunity many years later to interview him for the IHR’s Making History project.
Now a collection of recent essays and lectures sees Sir John still at the height of his powers according to our featured piece in this weeks Reviews in History, which can be accessed in full here.
