The History SPOT [seminar podcasts and online training] is one of the first pilot projects to be initiated by IHR Digital. It will bring together the IHR’s renowned research seminars and research training courses in one place. With the increasing popularity of podcasts and the continued desire for up-to-date training materials the IHR plans to provide a ‘spot’ for historians to develop their skills and expertise, to discuss and debate topics of historical interest and to further enhance their knowledge.
The IHR believes that the simple provision of these resources is not enough, that nurturing a collaborative and interactive spot for sharing and discussing research and for learning and training purposes is essential to historians’ future use of web technologies.
The History SPOT website will officially go live in March 2011 and will include seminar podcasts, brand new research handbooks, training materials and features designed to foster discussion, collaboration, and research processes.
