Reviews in History – New Reviews 30 April 2009

by

Michael Oakeshott’s highly influential Experience and its Modes was published for the first time in 1933, and this philosophy of history classic has now been reappraised by Alexander Macfie.

Elsewhere there are reviews of new books on topics as disparate as Oliver Cromwell, hunting in the United States South after the Civil War, and the British Empire.

As always, please send any comments, including suggestions for books or resources you would like to see on Reviews in History, to the deputy editor, Danny Millum.
