This week in Reviews in History Alisa Miller reviews Annette Becker’s Apollinaire: une biographie de geurre 1914-1918-2009, a portrait of one man’s attempt to understand his own life and history in the context of a war that was revelatory for those who lived through it, as well as those who attempt to understand it now.

Reviews is very keen to extend its coverage of significant foreign language history publications, and would welcome any suggestions as to books and reviewers. Do please send these to the deputy editor Danny Millum at danny.millum@sas.ac.uk.
